Your Lesson: what to expect
Starting out with kiteboarding can be an exhilarating journey! A beginner kiteboarding program typically aims to achieve several key goals to ensure students learn the necessary skills safely and effectively.
Recommended Course Duration: 3 hours to give you ample time to learn, practice, and enjoy the sport.
What will I learn?
1. Safety Awareness: Understanding the basic safety procedures, including how to rig and launch the kite safely, how to perform self-rescue techniques, and how to assess wind and water conditions.
2. Kite Control: Developing proficiency in controlling the kite, including launching, landing, steering, and power management. This involves learning how to fly the kite in different wind conditions and positions.
3. Body Dragging: Learning how to use the power of the kite to propel oneself through the water without the board, known as body dragging. This helps students get comfortable with the power of the kite and practice controlling it while in the water.
4. Board Skills: Introducing basic board skills such as water starts, edging, riding in both directions, and controlling speed and direction while riding. Students will gradually progress from simple maneuvers to more advanced techniques.
5. Theory and Terminology: Understanding the theoretical aspects of kiteboarding, including wind principles, kite dynamics, safety systems, and kiteboarding terminology. This knowledge is essential for safe and effective kiteboarding practice.
6. Self-Sufficiency: Equipping students with the knowledge and skills to kiteboard independently, including how to assess conditions, set up equipment, perform basic maintenance, and troubleshoot common issues.
7. Progression Pathway: Providing a clear progression pathway for students to advance their skills beyond the beginner level, such as intermediate and advanced kiteboarding techniques, tricks, and maneuvers.
8. Environmental Awareness: Fostering an appreciation for the natural environment and promoting responsible kiteboarding practices to minimize impact on the surroundings and wildlife.
By addressing these goals systematically, a beginner kiteboarding program can effectively introduce students to the sport and set them on a path towards becoming confident and skilled kiteboarders.
