In an outer reef tow foil lesson, you can expect a thrilling and challenging experience focused on mastering foiling in the swells/waves.The lesson begins with a safety briefing. You’ll navigate the more powerful waves and currents of the outer reef, learning advanced maneuvers such as carving and riding larger waves. Throughout the session, you’ll receive personalized feedback to enhance your skills and ensure a safe, exhilarating time.

What will I learn?

  • Navigating Outer Reef Conditions: You’ll learn how to assess and navigate the conditions typically found at outer reef breaks, including larger waves, stronger currents, and varying wind conditions. This includes understanding wave sets, timing your rides, and positioning yourself effectively for optimal waves.
  • Advanced Board Control: Building on basic tow foiling skills, you’ll refine your board control techniques to handle larger waves and faster speeds. This involves maintaining balance, adjusting foil angles for different wave conditions, and making quick adjustments to respond to changing wave dynamics.
  • Wave Riding Techniques: You’ll practice advanced wave riding techniques specific to foiling, such as pumping the foil to generate speed and lift, carving turns on the face of the wave, and potentially performing aerial maneuvers or cutbacks.
  • Safety Procedures: Safety remains a priority, and you’ll review advanced safety protocols tailored to outer reef conditions. This includes proper communication with the tow boat or PWC driver, understanding emergency procedures, and ensuring all safety gear is correctly worn and utilized
  • Advanced Maneuvers: Depending on your skill level and progression, you may practice advanced maneuvers such as aerial tricks, bottom turns, and challenging transitions between waves. These maneuvers require precise control and timing to execute effectively in outer reef conditions.

Students should have completed Tow Foil Practice

Bring your bathing suit, rash guard, towel, and gear if you have it.

All gear and boat support is included on the lessons.
